Haitian Diaspora: Channeling our Pride and Power to Help Haiti

A letter from Lémec Thomas, HCDF President

Dear fellow Haitian Diaspora,

I am writing to you today with a heartfelt plea to use your influence, wealth, knowledge, and experience to help Haiti. As members of the Haitian Diaspora, we have a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and prosperity of our beloved country. With over 3 million Haitians living abroad, us Diaspora have a wealth of knowledge, skills, and resources that can be harnessed to support sustainable development in Haiti. Haiti has a powerful, influential, and world-forming history that has inspired generations. From Toussaint Louverture's and Adbaraya Toya revolutionary struggle against European and western colonialism to the establishment of the first independent black nation, Haiti has always been a beacon of hope and resilience.

Despite the many challenges our country has faced over the years, we must never give up on our people or our country. We have a responsibility to help our fellow Haitians and support sustainable development in Haiti.

We all know that Haiti faces many challenges, from political instability to poverty, climate change and natural disasters. But we must not let these challenges discourage us. Instead, we must channel our Haitian pride and determination to create positive change in our country.

One of the most important ways we can help Haiti is by investing in its future. We must support Haitian-led initiatives and empower grassroots leaders to create sustainable solutions that will benefit our country in the long term. By investing in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and thinking creatively, we can help Haiti to build a brighter future for generations to come.

Another way we can make a difference is by leveraging our networks and connections. As members of the Haitian Diaspora, we have access to a wealth of knowledge, skills, and resources that can be used to support development initiatives in Haiti. By sharing our expertise, connections, and resources, we can create partnerships that will enable Haiti to thrive.

Most importantly, we must never forget our Haitian pride. Our history is rich and powerful, and it is our responsibility to celebrate it and share it with the world. By showcasing Haiti's cultural and historical heritage, we can help to create a more positive image of our country and inspire others to support its development.

In conclusion, I urge you to use your influence, wealth, knowledge, and experience to help Haiti. Let us channel our Haitian pride and determination to support sustainable development in our country. Let us not give up on our people or our country. Together, we can create positive change in Haiti and build a brighter future for all Haitians. Let us show the world what it means to be proud Haitians.
